Children's Dentistry Faqs
Around the time your child’s very first tooth appears, we suggest bringing them to the dentist (typically, this is when they are around six months old) as it is important to introduce your child to the dentist and familiarise them with the surroundings.
We can’t stress enough just how much early visits make a significant difference, even if your child has hardly any teeth. Regular examinations at this early stage will help your child feel relaxed about attending dental appointments.
At Reigate Smiles, we also offer an abundance of helpful advice for tots, including all important dietary advice and how to use dental tools.
There are many ways you can do to help further protect your child’s teeth. A suggestion we would make is that at around the age of six or seven, a fissure sealant can be applied to your child’s permanent teeth. We apply this as they start to emerge. This is extremely beneficial for the protection of your child’s teeth, as it can stop bacteria from entering.
This clear plastic coating that covers the narrow grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth can also help prevent tooth decay. It will also help strengthen enamel and make your child’s teeth more resistant to decay.
